Objectives: To secure international and national policies that support the development of biochar production systems and to build on these policies to rapidly increase the number of biochar demonstration projects underway by strategically convening technology developers, financiers, philanthropists, and policy makers.

• International recognition and accreditation of biochar as a climate change mitigation and adaptation technology within the post-2012 UNFCCC framework
• Critical supporting analyses, market assessments, joint IBI/UNCCD studies  completed to support policy work.
•  Move 20 demonstration projects into licensing, construction, and deployment by 2012.
